CEN supports the statewide communication and dissemination efforts of the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services and Michigan's Integrated Improvement Initiatives (MI3) system. Here you will find the Michigan Directory of Service Providers, Focus on Results newsletters, and Special Education Facts, Guidance, Rules, News, and Events. There are also Links to Statewide Projects and Initiatives, Associations and Organizations, Government Sites, Assistive Tech, Positive Behavioral Support, Personnel Development, Resources, Transition, Web-based Learning, Special Education Technical Assistance and Dissemination Network, and more.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA): Assistance to States for the Education of Children with Disabilities and Preschool Grants for Children with Disabilities. U.S. Department of Education-Office of Special Education Programs’ (OSEP) Building the Legacy: IDEA 2004. Here you can view searchable versions of IDEA and the regulations, access to cross-referenced content from other laws (e.g., the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), etc.), video clips on selected topics, topic briefs on selected regulations, links to OSEP's Technical Assistance and Dissemination (TA&D) Network and a Q&A Corner where you can submit questions, and a variety of other information sources. As items are completed and added to this site, we invite you to grow and learn with us as we implement these regulations.

NICHCY

NICHCY was the center that provides information to the nation on disabilities in children and youth; programs and services for infants, children, and youth with disabilities; IDEA, the nation's special education law; No Child Left Behind, the nation's general education law; and research-based information on effective practices for children with disabilities.  The program was defunded by the Department of Education in 2013.  It's website materials were moved to the Resource Library located at the above link, hosted by the Center for Children with Disabilities / Parent Information & Resources.

Bridges4Kids operates a comprehensive website providing parents, educators, and others the information they need to help children who might be at-risk or have special needs. It is updated daily and includes information on child development, education issues and opportunities, and extensive disability, gifted, at-risk, parenting, and teaching resources. Choose the "search" function on our menu to search the entire site for the information you need.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Federal law concerning the education of students with disabilities, requires schools to provide parents of a child with a disability with a notice containing a full explanation of the procedural safeguards available under the IDEA and U.S. Department of Education regulations.
